Terms of Service

Last updated: January 2, 2025

Welcome to Cashflow.fit

Thanks for using Cashflow.fit! These terms explain your rights and responsibilities when using our service. We've tried to keep the legal jargon to a minimum, but there are some important things you need to know.

By creating an account or using Cashflow.fit, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use our service.

1. What Cashflow.fit Does

Cashflow.fit is a financial companion app that:

  • Connects to your bank accounts (with your permission) via Plaid
  • Analyzes your transactions, balances, and spending patterns
  • Provides AI-powered cash flow forecasts and financial insights
  • Answers your money questions in plain English

Important: Cashflow.fit is a financial information tool, not a bank, financial advisor, or certified financial planner. We provide insights and projections, but they should not be considered professional financial advice.

2. Who Can Use Cashflow.fit

To use Cashflow.fit, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a valid email address
  • Have bank accounts in the United States
  • Agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy
  • Provide accurate information when creating your account

3. Your Account

Creating an Account

You're responsible for:

  • Keeping your password secure and confidential
  • All activity that happens under your account
  • Notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access
  • Providing accurate and up-to-date information

Account Security

You agree to:

  • Use a strong, unique password
  • Enable multi-factor authentication when available
  • Not share your account with others
  • Log out from shared or public devices

4. Connecting Your Bank Accounts

When you connect your bank accounts through Plaid:

  • You authorize us to access your financial data (transactions, balances, account details)
  • You're granting read-only access—we can't move money or make transactions
  • You can revoke access at any time through your account settings or directly with Plaid
  • You're responsible for ensuring you have permission to connect any accounts (e.g., joint accounts)

Note: Plaid is a separate company with its own terms and privacy policy. By using Plaid, you also agree to their terms.

5. How You Can Use Cashflow.fit

You're welcome to use Cashflow.fit for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree NOT to:

  • Use the service for illegal activities or fraud
  • Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or compromise our systems
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the service
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Upload viruses, malware, or malicious code
  • Impersonate others or create fake accounts
  • Resell or redistribute our service without permission
  • Use the service in a way that harms us or other users

6. Pricing and Payment

Free Tier

We offer a free tier with basic features. We may limit the number of connected accounts, transactions analyzed, or AI queries for free users.

Paid Plans (Coming Soon)

When we launch paid plans:

  • You'll be charged the amount shown at signup
  • Billing is monthly or annual (your choice)
  • You can cancel anytime—no questions asked
  • We may change prices with 30 days' notice
  • Refunds are at our discretion (but we're reasonable people!)

7. AI and Forecasting Disclaimer

Our AI provides insights and projections based on your financial data. However:

  • Not financial advice: Our insights are informational, not professional financial advice
  • Forecasts aren't guarantees: Predictions are based on historical data and may not reflect future reality
  • AI can make mistakes: While we strive for accuracy, AI isn't perfect
  • Use your judgment: Always consider your unique situation before making financial decisions
  • Consult professionals: For major financial decisions, consult a certified financial advisor

You use Cashflow.fit's insights at your own risk. We're not liable for financial decisions you make based on our forecasts or recommendations.

8. Data Accuracy

We rely on data from Plaid and your connected institutions. While we strive for accuracy:

  • Data may be delayed or incomplete due to bank APIs
  • Transaction categorization may occasionally be incorrect
  • We're not responsible for errors from third-party data providers

If you notice errors, please let us know at support@cashflow.fit

9. Intellectual Property

Cashflow.fit (including our app, website, logo, and content) is owned by us. You're granted a limited license to use the service, but you don't own any part of it.

Your data is yours. We don't claim ownership of your financial information. You grant us permission to use it to provide and improve our service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Service Availability

We work hard to keep Cashflow.fit running smoothly, but:

  • We don't guarantee 100% uptime
  • We may need to perform maintenance (we'll try to warn you first)
  • Third-party services (Plaid, banks) may experience outages beyond our control
  • We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features with notice

11. Termination

You Can Cancel Anytime

Delete your account anytime through your account settings. Your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

We May Suspend or Terminate

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these terms
  • Your account is inactive for over 2 years
  • We detect fraudulent or illegal activity
  • We're legally required to do so

We'll try to give you notice when possible, but immediate termination may be necessary for security or legal reasons.

12. Liability and Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We're not liable for any financial losses resulting from your use of Cashflow.fit
  • We're not responsible for errors in forecasts or AI recommendations
  • We're not liable for third-party service failures (Plaid, banks, etc.)
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or $100, whichever is greater)

Some jurisdictions don't allow liability limitations, so these may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, or damages arising from:

  • Your violation of these terms
  • Your use of the service
  • Your violation of any laws or third-party rights

14. Dispute Resolution

Contact Us First

If you have a problem, please reach out to support@cashflow.fit. We're reasonable people and want to resolve issues amicably.

Binding Arbitration

If we can't resolve a dispute informally, you agree to binding arbitration instead of court. Arbitration is faster and less expensive than lawsuits.

Exception: You can bring claims in small claims court if they qualify.

No Class Actions

You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action lawsuit.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes:

  • We'll notify you by email and/or in-app message
  • The "Last updated" date will change
  • Continued use of the service means you accept the new terms

16. General Stuff

  • Governing Law: These terms are governed by the laws of [Your State], United States
  • Entire Agreement: These terms, plus our Privacy Policy, make up the complete agreement
  • Severability: If any part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies
  • No Waiver: Our failure to enforce a term doesn't waive our right to enforce it later
  • Assignment: We may transfer these terms to another company; you can't transfer your rights without our permission

TL;DR: Be cool, use Cashflow.fit responsibly, understand it's a tool (not a financial advisor), keep your account secure, and we'll do our best to help you take control of your finances. Questions? Just ask. 💸
